Structures built to contain things need to be adequately lined so that they continue to hold their contents without harming the surrounding ecosystem. Some examples of containment structures include landfills, ponds, tanks, etc. Nilex offers both primary and secondary containment solutions.
Primary containment solutions by Nilex
The intent of primary containment solutions is to prevent the seepage of the contents of a containment structure or unit into the ground below. This is attained by lining these containment units with geomembranes. Low density polyethylene membranes are used as they are flexible and can be easily stretched across the inner lining of the containment units. Geomembranes reinforced with XR-5 are specifically used for containment units that store chemicals as these membranes are resistant to chemicals.
Secondary containment solutions by Nilex
Secondary containment solutions are
preferred for containment units that store industrial liquids. Industrial leaks
are hazardous to human life and the environment and it is therefore extremely
important that spills are contained. In addition to being resistant to
chemicals, the geomembranes used to line the secondary containment units are
also resistant to high temperatures. Nilex provides containment rings that
check the spread of spills, if they occur.
